Union Canal bridges are numbered 1 to 62 from Edinburgh to Falkirk. New bridges have been given the number of the old bridge they replaced or have been assigned the nearest bridge number with an added letter or letters.
The Leamington Lift Bridge, Viewforth Bridge, railway bridges and foot bridges are not numbered.

Bridge 45 - Preston Road, Linlithgow looking east. This was built in 1992 to replace a culvert. The original bridge was removed in 1965 to enable to road to be widened for access to the housing estates about to be built at that time. - LUCS B4601 Katie Shaws
Bridge 46 - Holemill but also known locally as Katie Shaw's bridge. the view is looking east. Katie was a dairymaid who drove her cows to grazing land over this bridge.
